For Immediate Release
(KNOXVILLE, TENN. Feb. 15, 2019) – Coldwell Banker Wallace & Wallace, RealtorsⓇ is pleased to announce that Stephanie Mitchum, REALTOR at our Farragut Office, is the recipient of the Knoxville Area Association of REALTORS® (KAAR) “Good Neighbor Award” for 2018.
The Good Neighbor Award recognizes a KAAR Member who demonstrates exceptional community service within one of KAAR’s 12-county region.
Stephanie was chosen by an impartial committee based on factors such as personal contributions (resources, volunteer hours, etc) to a local charity, non-profit organization, or community. KAAR will donate $500 to the Good Neighbor Award winner’s chosen charity or non-profit organization.
Stephanie, who has been an agent with CBWW since 2016, has previously served on the KAAR Community Involvement Committee and was active in the Backpack Heroes program. She feels particularly called to help serve the homeless and low-income in the greater Knoxville Area.
In addition to her full-time real estate career, she has served as Executive Director of two-nonprofits, Water Angels Ministries and Love & Mercy Ministries.
In 2002, she started Water Angels Ministries, which offered a broad range of assistance including a clothing closet, food pantry, and Bible studies throughout the week. She and other volunteers also helped the homeless obtain state ID and Social Security cards, necessary identifications to get a job, cash a check, or get into public housing.
Most recently in 2017, she started her newest nonprofit, Love & Mercy Ministries. Each Monday night, you’ll find her helping inner city kids realize their dreams, assisting them to fill out the FAFSA and so they can be the first in their families to go to college. And on Tuesday mornings, she’s feeding the homeless during Bible studies and helping them apply for housing, treatment, or jobs.
In the past year, she has given over 500 hours of her time, helped raise over $15,000 for Love & Mercy Ministries. She has personally helped two inner city kids get into college and is in the process of assisting five more this year. She has helped over a dozen homeless enter into rehabs, housing, or employment in the last two years.
“Stephanie brings so much genuine heart and passion to everything she does,” said Anne Williams, Principal Broker for CBWW Farragut. “Her efforts to help others are ceaseless and she’s always looking for new and unique ways to carry out her labor of love in our community. She brings the same positive energy and heart to her real estate business as she serves the needs of all her clients.”
